Minnesota Micro-Wedding Backyard Elopement
A Wes Anderson inspired micro-wedding
Sofia and Evan’s backyard micro-wedding elopement in Minnesota was one I will always remember. Ever since I had met with them at Cream & Amber I knew that we would get along very well. Sofia had a mood board prepared for her engagement shoot. I got all the feels as a former graphic designer (Sofia is also a creative with graphics and illustration so it was a perfect fit). Their love story of meeting in high school and then getting engaged in Lisbon, Portugal was so adorable.
I knew with everything happening with COVID that I did not have to worry about how Sofia and Evan were handling it. Even though I had moved across the country, they had complete trust in me. So when Sofia gave me her inspiration for their micro-wedding, I did some research. Wes Anderson’s movie Moonrise Kingdom was the movie they picked so I knew I had to incorporate similar vibes.

The Ceremony
Sofia and Evan decided they wanted to do a first look down the aisle. The anticipation of seeing each other is such a special moment that I always love to capture. Originally, they wanted to have a bigger wedding but COVID had other ideas. As a result, Sofia and Even decided they wanted to have a Minnesota micro-wedding. I have realized with planning weddings, you have to be flexible. This doesn’t make your day any less than a bigger wedding and I think it makes for more of an intimate and memorable feeling.

After the ceremony, Evan and Sofia wanted family photos at the church with bridal party photos at a park. Fun fact, I actually had my own wedding photos taken at the exact same park which gave me all the feels.

The Reception
A Minnesota micro-wedding that ends with a backyard reception? Sign me up! After photos, we transitioned to an intimate and comfortable family setting. And ended the night with some festive dancing!
